A Brief Bio
By Dino de Vincenzi

I was born on April 17, 1954 in the southern part of Italy, in a town of 80,000 inhabitants called Molfetta, a town of sailors and fishermen, a very rich and modern town. When I was 12, my father was sent in another department by State Railways, in which he was an high official; my mother was a teacher. So we arrived in Vigevano, 30 kms afar from Milan, on September 3 ,1966. I completed my high schools before in a classic school (Liceo Classico, in which I studied Latin, ancient Greek, phylosophy, history, English literature and other classic matters) then I got the graduation in Accountancy in another high school.

I played along several years Soccer and Basketball, with good results. Then I had my military service, in Sassari, Pisa, Livorno, Naples and Conegliano Veneto in a Nato repart, and I was a paratrooper (officer).
After the military service I started my universitary studies in jurisprudence: I wanted become a judge, a job that in Italy you can get only after a degree in jurisprudence and after several public competitions. A judge is a Civil Official, depending from the central state. I didn't finish my studies since I started to work in my City Hall as employers in the cultural department and, in 1978, I got married with Adriana, my wife.
Adriana and I met on September 11, 1970 and we got fianced on September 22, 1970 and we got married on October 7, 1978. We have two daughters: Silvia (June 24, 1981) and Chiara (August 15, 1989) both students. Dino and I have have a a few similarities in regards to our lifeline. We were born the same year, 1954, and only a few weeks apart. We both married in October of 1978. Both of us have a great interest in military aircraft and vino. Because of my interests in the Italian culture and Leonardo, Dino has provided an educational experience beyond text books.
The first, Silvia, is actually studing the second year of Medicine in the Pavia's University, and the second, Chiara, is studing the first year of the middle schools.

I got, in the meanwhile, several political charges and I had a consistant political activity. I quitted it on 1990. In 1983 I became Office Chief in my Municipality after a hard competition (the public job career in Italy is made only by competitions) and I started to work in the financial Department. Then, on 1994 I had another competition and I won it, so I became Service Chief in the same Department.

Silvia has been majoring in Neurology and has spent the past several years studying at the University of Pavia. Recently, she has graduated from general studies as a doctor and is in the process of working at a local hospital while attending classes in neurological studies. Silvia expects to achieve another graduation in about 2 years.

I wrote some books, satiric and some tales about Science Fiction. I had some activity as "ghost writer" writing some University books about the Egyptian Civilization, in which I can say to be an expert. My books were adopted from some British and American Universities, even if they were "signed" by the professors who had asked me the job.

Dino has written for professors of Cambridge and Princeton University about Egyptian Civilzation and is considered among many within the educational profession as a Egyptian historical archeologist. Dino has taken me to two Egyptian museums, one in Milan and the other in Turin.

Dino has recently written two books for the Comune de Vigevano, Vigevano in Famiglia and Vigevano al Lavoro. Dino has also co-written a book with Francesco Ogliari (Nobel Prize for literature), Milano Imperiale.

Dino has been published as a historian while some people who have delusions of being a "historian" and have never been published. So much for calling themselves a "historian."

I got the wonderful adventure of the Chicago Intenational Millennium Dinner, which you know very well.

Dino had submitted a letter to a Chicago Newspaper with the winning suggestion, invite two none-VIP from each country and have then attend at the New Years Eve Millenium celebration in Chicago.

Dino was featured in a full spread story and met the mayor of Chicago during the previous summer. Dino and his family were recognized during the New Years festivities as the one who brought them all to the windy city.

It was my desire to go to Chicago and greet him, but the powers to be at Sprint ANS decided that all personnel were to remain in the near vicinity and participate in their New Years Eve party.

About the USA I was there with my older daughter Silvia in 1994, visiting Utah, Wyoming, Los Angeles, Disneyland. Then I was there again in 1995 with Silvia again, visiting New York. Then I have been 8 days in Chicago on the end of may 1999 and again, with the whole family in December 1999, for the International Millennium Dinner. I was too (GEEEEE) in Arizona - Tucson in September 1999 along 9 days with my younger daughter Chiara.

Dino is one of few people that I know to have jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. In his case, he has made 21 jumps. I still think he's crazy... LOL!

Dino and his family live in Vigevano, a small town about 30km and southwest of Milan."
I had written a term paper on Leonardo da Vinci for one of my college classes. Dino had assisted me in doing some research. It turns out that Leonardo had designed the town sqaure of Vigevano and had called it the Perfect City. The Square or Piazza is very similar to the designs of small open malls of today.
Dino had co-authored with Francesco Ogliari in producing Milano Imperiale, a book about the history of Milan Italy from 1936 through 1941.
Dino has hosted me four times while I vacationed in Italy. He has taught me several things about the Italian culture and language. I hope someday to host him here in the U.S.
Another trip to Italy is in the plans, to visit Dino e famiglia, to have a wonderful time, and introduce him to someone special in my life. We have discussed about what to do with the distractor and what needs to be achieved this year.
